M.F.A. Program

The program seeks to enable talented young writers to discover their strengths and develop their craft by providing a framework within which they can discuss each other's work while receiving individual guidance from prominent Latin American, Spanish, and Latino writers. It provides students with a stimulating environment in which to develop their writing potential, master techniques of communication through intensive practice of writing within traditional genres (fiction, poetry, essay) and also engage in more experimental expressive techniques. It encourages students to work on their creative projects and at the same time prepares them to apply their literary expertise advantageously in other professional fields, including journalism and communications. In sum, the program seeks to train imaginative writers who will be, at the same time, accomplished technicians of the written word. Instruction is offered mainly in Spanish.
